Dialogue Meeting 2019

Our 2019 Bach Network Dialogue Meeting was held from Monday 8 to Saturday 13 July at Madingley Hall, near Cambridge www.madingleyhall.co.uk . The full programme can be found here. The meeting followed a similar format to the stimulating and successful Dialogue meetings in 2017 and 2015, which again facilitated discussions with a wide variety of Bach scholars, performers and enthusiasts in relaxed surroundings. The core programme ran from Tuesday afternoon to Thursday evening and featured a range of current topics including the Bach 333 project, Bach and Materiality, The Art of Fugue, Musical Authorship, a live music session on Wednesday, our ever popular Early Career Forum and the five-minute Flash Announcement Session to which any registered delegate is invited to speak about their current research. Presenters and panellists included Christine Blanken, Isabella van Elferen, Nicholas Kenyon, Kevin Korsyn, Robin Leaver, Michael Marissen, Paul Moseley, Derek Remes, Barbara M. Reul, Stephen Rose, Joel Speerstra, Ruth Tatlow, Bettina Varwig, Christoph Wolff, and Steven Zohn. In addition we welcomed harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani for an evening lecture recital, and director Paul Spicer, who led a choral singing session. Rooms were reserved from Monday 8 July with departures on Saturday morning 13 July to allow delegates to settle in, read and prepare, hold meetings, discuss research projects and to enjoy the beautiful gardens.
