Ali Dunlop
Bach Network UK is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and colleague Ali Dunlop on 18 July. Our thoughts are with her parents at this time. Ali participated in several Dialogue meetings, helped coordinate the ICBM Belfast in 2010, and contributed an article to the Young Scholars’ Forum in Understanding Bach 3 (2008). She will be greatly missed.
Dalia Cohen
It is with sadness that we recently heard that Professor Dalia Cohen passed away. A greatly influential Israeli musicologist, Dalia Cohen was also an energetic contributor to several BNUK Dialogue meetings. We were honoured to have her comments at the Meetings, and an article in Understanding Bach Volume 3 that was originally given at a Dialogue meeting.
Yoshitake Koboyashi
It is with sadness that we note the passing of an influential Japanese Bach scholar, Yoshitake Kobayashi, on 26 January 2013. A student of Alfred Dürr, Kobayashi continued Dürr’s work, to produce scholarship that has become the definitive reference for Bach scholars. His legacy includes the chronology of Bach’s late works and a catalogue of Bach’s copyists. He leaves a widow, Kirsten Beißwenger, to whom we express our deepest sympathy.
New Advisory Council member
Bach Network UK welcomes Bettina Varwig onto its Advisory Council.

Alfred Dürr
It is with sadness that we note the passing of the great Bach scholar Alfred Dürr. his legacy of Neue Bach Ausgabe publications will stand for many years, but above all it is his generous style and quiet authority that those of us privileged to befriend him will remember.

BNUK Trustees and Council meeting
A statutory Trustees Meeting and the first meeting of the Advisory Council was held in London on 15 September 2010. A policy document for Understanding Bach was approved unanimously, as was the new model for our research activities, Dialogue Study Groups (DSG). Detailed planning for the cultural and academic content of the fifth Dialogue Meeting, to be held in Edinburgh 12-14 August 2011, is now well underway.
